What a season it’s been. Only a point continues to separate the top two in the Premier League, and likewise in the Aventum Fantasy League it’s really anyone’s guess who will win the Apple Watch top prize. Proving that Fantasy Football is a game of real skill and judgement it’s last years winner, Cormac Murphy, who has timed his title challenge to perfection, moving himself into prime position for victory as we entered the final month of the season. However, with a lead of a mere two points over his closest challenger, and just 22 points separating the top five, it’s still all to play for among our leading managers. A tasty final three gameweeks, packed with a plethora of double matches, and managers using up their last chips, means there are all kinds of choices on the table, and different ways the season could yet play out.

While Cormac Murphy had an excellent month to move top of the table, he didn’t have the best month out of all our 247 managers. That honour went to Kevin Miller of Richard Bamber & Co who scored a whopping 360 points thanks to using two of his chips to great effect in the five gameweeks and some smart captain picks. Kevin was one of few managers not to have Mo Salah in their team at all during the month, proving how shifting strategy away from that of the herd can reap rewards. Congratulations Kevin, a bottle of champagne is on its way to you.

As we enter the final the final few weeks of the year, it really is remarkable how the end of the Fantasy Football season has played out, and that going into the final month of the season, only two points (the equivalent of a player simply playing a match) separate the top two. That last year’s champion has also worked his way back to the top of the standings, having been a distance from the leaders for much of the season is also remarkable – and quite a contrast to his dominant win last year. The smart choice for the final few weeks of the year is surely to pack your team with players at clubs with multiple matches in a gameweek. However, tying this together with the unpredictable results that often emerge when you match teams against others with little to play for, some inspired judgement could be needed. It’s all made for an exciting conclusion where an own goal here, or a yellow card there could decide everything.
