Fantasy Football: And our winner is…

The 2021/22 Premier League season was brought to a fittingly dramatic climax with Manchester City’s incredible three late goals in five minutes, to pinch the title over Liverpool by a single point. But arguably the finale of the Aventum Fantasy League was even more exciting! After an unpredictable couple of months that saw several different managers top the league during the run-in, it all came down to an 89th minute Andy Robertson goal (completely irrelevant to the Premier League outcome – but decisive to the Aventum Fantasy League) that swung victory to our winning manager by just three points!
And that winning manager is…
Mark Horgan, of Pi-Property Insurance, and his team ‘joalso’.
Mark scored a huge 2610 overall, including an excellent 88 in the final week of the season to win the Apple Watch prize, and more importantly the kudos that comes with being Aventum Fantasy Football Champion 2021/22! Congratulations Mark!

And you can’t say Mark hasn’t deserved it. While never winning Manager of the Month, he led for a large amount of the season, thanks to a phenomenal start, in which he placed top five in Manager of the Month for each of August, September, October, and November. After having his lead reeled in and been overtaken, victory looked like it may be sailing out of reach, before his final week haul took him back to the top when it mattered. But Mark isn’t the only one with something to celebrate. As always, our Manager of the Month wins a bottle of champagne, and for the final month of the season that goes to Adrian Price of Hepburns Insurance. His team ‘Aubangemyin all day’ amassed an incredible 338 points in just three gameweeks, thanks in no small part to captaining Kevin de Bruyne for his brilliant 30-point performance in week 36, which included four goals against Wolves. That helped Adrian to 190 points in that one week alone! Congratulations Adrian, that bottle of champagne is on its way to you.
